Christof Ruof

Eastern Switzerland, Graubünden Switzerland

Meet Christof Ruof, a winemaker in Graubünden, Switzerland.

We have first tried his wines thanks to our dear friend and winegrower Hartmut Aubell from Weingut Rebenhof. It was an unforgettable experience with these personal, energetic, and precise masterpieces made mainly from Pinot Noir grapes.

Christof originally comes from a butcher family. In 2012, he decided to become the first winemaker in the family, taking care of their vineyard, which has only 13 rows of Mariafeld and "1055" Pinot Noir clones, with a surface area of about 0.2 hectares.

Following his passion and intuition, as well as his experience at his father-in-law's winery, he works alone and produces a few cuvées mainly made from Pinot Noir from this and a couple of other parcels.

Great vineyard work, precision in the cellar, and a sheer love for Pinot Noir make for some of the most distinct and pleasurable wines that we have tried.

After almost exactly two years since the first contact and two visits to this lovely place, the wines have made it to the Netherlands and are ready to be shared with our customers. The quantities are extremely limited as the fruit comes from several plots that comprise less than a hectare of vines.
