FOR THE LOVE OF TRAVEL
Our story
Us and Natural Wines: The Beginning of Our Journey
It all started with travel, a lot of travel—visiting new places and local restaurants, and tasting regional specialties. That’s how we became interested in and involved with wine. Over time—and with excellent wines—our preferences evolved. We have visited many small artisanal wineries. We’ve gotten to know the people who work there and tasted wines made honestly in harmony with the environment. These wines pursue the expression of the terroir (a combination of all the factors influencing the wine—soils, climate, altitude, biodiversity), instead of masking or faking it (as in industrial winemaking).
Discovering Natural Wines
That’s when we truly discovered the marvelous world of natural wines: wild, powerful, and guaranteed to banish boredom. Once our house was filled with wine souvenirs and trophies from all over Europe, it dawned on us that the path we had been walking for a while had led to a new calling in life. We realized we wanted to popularize the virtue of curiosity, the courage to try new tastes, and the willingness to explore the splendid possibilities of nature. This idea, coupled with the constant absence of natural wines in surrounding cafes and restaurants and the lack of choice on wine menus, motivated, if not forced, us to import such wines ourselves.
Our Current Endeavors
Currently, we work with 50 producers from all over Europe (plus one project in Argentina!). These producers reflect our understanding and preferences in wines. This means, first of all, quality, entertaining character, vibrant energy, and the important “feel-good-after” aspect. We try to visit the wineries regularly. Additionally, we keep up with the development of the wines, changes in vinification, and current challenges and discoveries of each producer. Winemaking is a journey, and so is our path of exploring and sharing the passion for it.
Our Philosophy
Enough said and complained, by the way. We prefer to drink wine rather than talk about it. Snobbery and stubbornness have no place here. Therefore, we believe that we shouldn’t take ourselves too seriously when it comes to the contents of our glass. It’s much better to take serious pleasure in it.
