Alicia, a daughter of Laureano Serres (Mendall winery), started making wines together with her boyfriend Alex just in 2022, following the steps of her father, while still studying viticulture in the academy of Tarragona. These beautiful youngsters are working hard and plan to develop their own project, leaning on the philosophy of pure and attentive work in the vineyard and avoiding interventions and any additives in the cellar. It’s really touching to see how proud they are of their origin and how dedicated they are to their roots. While talking about her work and study, Alicia often looked up to her dad, who had already imparted valuable lessons to her. However, she recognizes that there are still many more years ahead to continue learning from him. She misses the family terribly while staying long weeks in busy Tarragona, and enjoys every possibility to go home to visit the parents and the vineyards.
The wines of Alicia&Alex show exactly how much the identity of the winemaker means. The grapes are sourced in one of the Seres family vineyards and vinified in the same winery, but what’s inside the bottle - they are so very different! For the moment there are only 3-4 wines that reach the market (red of Garnacha and Carignan; orange of macerated white of of Moscatel, white Grenache and Macabeo; and a pet-nat), and the production is very low. We are very excited to observe the formation of the new identities of the region and development of that project.
