Domaine du Gringet / Vincent Ruiz

Haute-Savoie France

Domaine du Gringet is located in Ayse, Haute-Savoie, and focuses primarily on Gringet—a rare white grape grown exclusively in this small Alpine region. Only 22 hectares exist worldwide, nearly half of which are farmed by the domaine. Small parcels of Altesse and Mondeuse complete the 9.5-hectare estate.

The domaine was formerly run by Dominique Belluard, who transformed Gringet’s reputation through organic and biodynamic farming and thoughtful winemaking. After his passing in 2021, his widow Valérie entrusted the estate to four partners: winemaker Vincent Ruiz, Cornas vigneron Franck Balthazar, and longtime distributors Raphaël Bennour and Miguel Sarzier. Renamed Domaine du Gringet, the team has focused exclusively on still wines and continues to work organically, with official certification underway.

Vincent Ruiz manages day-to-day operations. He practices regenerative farming, avoids soil compaction, and vinifies parcel by parcel. In the cellar, whole-bunch pressing, ambient yeasts, long lees aging in concrete and ceramic, no racking, and minimal sulfur use are standard.

In parallel, Vincent also runs a personal project in the northern Ardèche. In 2020, he began vinifying wines in Saint-Romain-de-Lerps and continued under the label **Les Vins de Vincent** after founding Domaine du Gringet. He sources organically grown grapes—Syrah, Grenache Noir, Cinsault, Carignan, and Grenache Blanc—from a friend’s high-altitude vineyards on clay-limestone soils near Gras.

This range reflects his broader winemaking interests. Labels feature alchemical engravings from the 17th-century work *Atalanta Fugiens*, selected by Vincent for their symbolic resonance.

Both projects share a focus on organic farming, low-intervention methods, and wines that reflect their origin with clarity and precision.
